This page discusses the definition of Itself, which was created following a discussion regarding the possibility of having a Wikipedia article which only refers to itself. This is not silliness, but the attempt at a philosophically correct definition within the formal system of wikipedia.
It is certainly interesting to have one page which only references itself. Besides being interesting, I think that it's the correct definition of itself. The chance that this definition says something about the philosophical and logical boundaries of precicely what wikipedia is attempting to do, and is able to do, is too great to delete this entry without some discussion.
It is a statement within wikipedia and also a statement about wikipedia. It demonstrates wikipedia's smart way of coping with self reference. Someone more philosophically inclined than myself may be able to show, using this definition of itself, that Wikipedia saves itself from philosophical breakdown only at the cost of compromising its range of expression (See Incompleteness Theorem, Recursive Functions, Lambda Calculus.)
The "link" to Itself from Itself is bold and not blue or underlined. You can not precicely say, though, that this is not a link. In order to say that it is not a link, you would have to show that it did not take you to the page where you want to go. In fact, it did take you there, but you were already there. It took you there vacuously, as you would say in mathematics.
The definition of itself on the page, Itself was repeatedly deleted immediately following posting. If you would like to see the definition reposted or you would like to explain why it should not be, please sign on below with your comments.
