The Bates-Morse Mountain Conservation Area is a 574-acre private property in mid-coast Maine, near the mouth of the Kennebec River.
The conservation area is separated from Popham Beach State Park by the Morse River on the east, and the Sprague River on the west. It is bounded on the south by the back dunes of Seawall Beach; the beach itself and part of the back dunes along the Sprague River are owned by the Small Point Association, a separate conservation organization.
The sides of Morse Mountain still bear the remains of sandbag fortifications from World War II, during which many sections of the Maine coast were fortified against invasion. The paved road through the conservation area also dates to this era.
