I lived in Maracaibo, Zulia from 1958 to 1982. The thought that we can share information on this wonderful country is fantastic. Eric M.

Is the information about Maracaibo public domain? And why is it here, instead of in its own article? -- Zoe

Zulia as an independent nation?

Per the discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Independent Republic of Zulia an article that claimed this state had been a separate country was redirected here. The discussion revealed that there has been some talk of separate status in reliable sources; they are placed here so that a knowledgable editor can review them, and if appropriate expand this article. Population

There is currently no source on the population and I cannot find a source that matches the population currently on here. I would replace it with a new sourced population but I also can't find a consistent answer. We could use https://www.statista.com/statistics/1171503/venezuela-states-population/ which is what is currently being used on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/States_of_Venezuela#Special_status_areas for the most recent population. We could use the 2011 census population which is also on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/States_of_Venezuela#Special_status_areas, but it is not sourced.

We could also use the population from any of these sources:
