I deleted from this article a copy of part of the internet draft for ZRP [1]. This draft carries the following notice:

This document is an Internet-Draft and is in full conformance with
all provisions of Section 10 of RFC 2026, except the right to produce
  derivative works is not granted.

This does not allow modifying the text (since that would be producing a derivative work), so this is not GFDL compatible. --PrologFan 7 July 2005 17:43 (UTC)

This isn't an IP or network routing protocol of any sort, I couldn't figure out for sure what it was but I suspect it's related to bluetooth or similar - needs someone who knows about that (IP Networking is my area) to look into it and provide some context. ~Excesses~ (talk) 10:31, 6 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

This is a routing protocol for Mobile ad hoc networks. Generally, such networks do not use IP routing, though they may carry IP packets. This is analogous to a switched Ethernet network (e.g. see the Spanning Tree Protocol), except wireless and ad-hoc, that is, nodes communicate as they find they are able to.

Wireless networks can be built over Bluetooth, but Bluetooth is actually not ideal for this kind of thing. More often they might be built using technologies such as Zigbee (802.15.4) and WiFi (802.11). A lot of the work in this field has been theoretical, but some applications do exist, especially with wireless sensor networks (which, however, are not mobile), and perhaps soon with Vehicular ad-hoc networks.

I hope this clarifies things. Esb (talk) 00:30, 20 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
