Controversy surrounding death
There "was" very clear controversy around his death, and this continues in the minds of his supporters, which should be noted in the introductory paragraph, as most readers do not read the whole article and will gain from just having another few words added to the sentence on his death - as there is no shortage of authoritative sources on the fact that there was controversy, and that sheds light on current events: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/26707208/ https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/26856052/ https://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-24838061 https://www.theguardian.com/world/2013/nov/06/yasser-arafat-poisoned-polonium-tests-scientists https://www.reuters.com/article/us-palestinians-arafat-idUSBRE9A50S520131106 https://abcnews.go.com/International/yasser-arafat-poisoned-forensics-report/story?id=20806963 https://www.nbcnews.com/id/wbna53482635 https://www.chemistryworld.com/news/arafat-exhumed-in-poisoning-probe/5672.article Dagelf (talk) 21:49, 8 October 2023 (UTC)

Template:Edit extended-protected A recent edit introduced an error in the references list (Template:TQ)
I think removing the first <ref name=":0"> (used in a footnote and not currently called elsewhere in the article) and changing the second <ref name=":0"> to <ref name="Starr2021"> and its two callbacks from <ref name=":0" /> to <ref name="Starr2021" /> (all three in subsection Fatah involvement in Lebanese Civil War, second to last paragraph) would fix the error and avoid future refname conflicts but without a preview it's hard to tell. Template:Edit extended-protected Hello,
An article by Yasir Arafat's nephew contradicts the birth place of Yasir Arafat.
There is also an acknowledgement from Noble Prize profile.

- Hi 2A02:6B67:EA35:9E00:F060:7ABD:3FF9:531C! The page already says "4 or 24 August" - there are also sources saying he was born on the 4th of August: https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/20201112-reason-of-arafats-death-remains-unknown-16-years-later/ https://egyptindependent.com/day-history-yasser-arafat-died/
- So the text in the article is correct. File:X mark.svg Not done Lova Falk (talk) 15:34, 11 March 2025 (UTC)
Cause of death controversy in lead
Per the article's content on the cause of death investigations, the lead should not read:
"While the cause of Arafat's death has remained the subject of speculation, investigations by Russian and French teams determined no foul play was involved."
as this ignores the third investigation by the Swiss team which concluded the opposite. The conclusion of that investigation is definitively not "speculation". I suggest the following:
"The cause of Arafat's death remains the subject of speculation. Investigations by Russian and French scientific teams determined no foul play was involved, while a Swiss team concluded he was radiologically poisoned." Doeze (talk) 15:59, 8 May 2025 (UTC)
