Requested move

WrestleMania was not suffixed by Roman numerals until the 3rd WrestleMania, when it became clear that it would be an annual event - the first two WrestleMania just had numbers after their name, not numerals. This is from the official guide to WrestleMania published by World Wrestling Entertainment. — McPhail 22:27, 31 July 2005 (UTC)Reply

I've moved it to WrestleMania (1985) as the name of it was not suffixed by any numeral. This is, of course, open to discussion but I do think it works best. violet/riga (t) 09:07, 18 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

King Kong Bundy v SD Jones

I was just watching the match. I timed it also. My timer says 22.58Seconds and the Ring Anouncer says the match was finished in 9 seconds!! heh. (should both times be noted?) Govvy 22:19, 1 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

The discrepency is already noted. TJ Spyke 22:20, 1 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
KK, I was just watched it, it did officially say 23 seconds in the event. So I shaved a second off. Govvy 22:24, 1 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

I just watched the match. 9 seconds is the Kayfabe number. The match clearly lasts 22. It should be changed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2602:306:CE08:C8D0:C104:D709:B24F:8531 (talk) 19:48, 30 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Image alignment in this article

The alignment of the images needs fixing. Govvy 13:59, 11 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

I took care of it, got rid of the space caused by how close the first two pics were to each other. TJ Spyke 22:48, 11 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Looks like this one [[Image:WMsantana.jpg|thumb|right|200px|Tito Santana vs. The Executioner]] has to be right under the ==Results== header. Now the bottom one needs fixing. Govvy 23:19, 11 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Your edit created a huge white speace between the section heading and the first match result. I'm guessing you use Firefox since I have IE and the current version of the page is fine, everything is alligned fine (I have noticed in the past that Firefox users have problems with Wikipedia). TJ Spyke 23:23, 11 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

ye, I have been experiencing problems, I thought I try an edit and view both. Seems to work better when they are all under the results header. Govvy 23:29, 11 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

I fixed the alignment for better view in both firefox and Internet Explorer. It should look good now.-- bulletproof 3:16 23:31, 11 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

The way you did it Govvy looks horrible for me. -- bulletproof 3:16 23:34, 11 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

LOL you made it look much worse for me in IE and Firefox!! I got major whitespace!! Govvy 23:36, 11 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Your edit made all of the images line up at the very top of the results section for me man. -- bulletproof 3:16 23:37, 11 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

and the whitespace? Govvy 23:38, 11 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

what version of IE are you using? Try upgrading it, see if it'll work. -- bulletproof 3:16 23:40, 11 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

I have the latest versions of Firefox and IE! Govvy 23:43, 11 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

No way man, I have the latest version of both too and the article looks fine to me w/o any white spaces. Maybe it has something to do with the resolution of your screen. I have mine set to default. -- bulletproof 3:16 23:44, 11 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
I have 1024 by 768 what do you have? Govvy 23:49, 11 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
I also have the latest version of IE. I don't use Firefox, I tried it but didn't care for it. My resolution is 1280x800 (the default, I have a widescreen monitor). TJ Spyke 23:50, 11 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
I have same as TJ's on this comp and 1024 by 768 on my other one. Both look fine to me so I don't know whats up with yours Govvy.-- bulletproof 3:16 23:53, 11 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Expansion

Surely the most famous WWF event of all time could use a little expansion, correct? I'd love to see this with enough info to become a good article, or even featured. FamicomJL 19:47, 7 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

I have begun work on the expansion. Anyone like to help? FamicomJL 00:03, 13 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

First PPV

This article claims that it's a "common misconception" that the Wrestling Classic was the first PPV but the official website of WWE claims that WrestleMania 2 was the first WrestleMania on PPV and it makes no mention of WrestleMania being the first PPV on the facts section of it. Links: WM Facts WM2 Facts I looked through the edit history and it was originally this

"However, contrary to popular belief, WrestleMania was not the inaugural pay-per-view event in the WWF's history. It aired only on closed circuit television, set up in various venues throughout the United States. The first actual pay per view event the WWF, held on November 7, 1985, was called The Wrestling Classic. The first WrestleMania to be shown on pay-per-view was WrestleMania 2, held on April 7, 1986."

It seems to be supported by those links. But then T00C00L came in and changed it to what it is now and he also changed the article on The Wrestling Classic. No citation at all and the article for The Wrestling Classic even acknowledges the WWE.com thing yet it's still treated as absolute fact in the PPV chronology. Why is this? Shouldn't it be changed back or at the very least need a citation needed? 24.159.39.11 (talk) 23:52, 5 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

From what i've read, it was available on a very limited PPV (PPV was still pretty new). TJ Spyke 00:08, 7 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
I don't know how I would source this, but on the WWE 24/7's airing of The Wrestling Classic, Ricky Steamboat introduces The Wrestling Classic as the first ever WWF PPV. Loosie (talk) 21:41, 3 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
Here's what I'm gonna say, if it was watched on PPV in some parts of the country instead of Closed Circuit Television, I would count this as the inaugural PPV for the WWE. Because unless you're someone who was alive back then or goes on Wikipedia and looks up WWE, you're never gonna know what the Wrestling Classic was.--Nascarking (talk) 19:58, 15 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:WMandre.jpg

File:Nuvola apps important.svg

Image:WMandre.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Mr. T problems?

I was reading the WrestleMania article and read there were some troubles with Mr. T

"Mr. T entered the world of professional wrestling in 1985. He was Hulk Hogan's tag-team partner at the first WrestleMania. Hulk Hogan wrote in his autobiography that Mr. T saved the main event of WrestleMania I between them and "Rowdy" Roddy Piper and "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff because when he arrived, security would not let his entourage into the building. Mr. T was ready to skip the show until Hogan personally talked him out of leaving. Piper has said that he and other fellow wrestlers disliked Mr. T because he was an actor coming into wrestling and had never paid his dues as a professional wrestler."

My question is what exactly did they mean "entourage" ? Was it like the entourage they have in boxing? I just don't get what Mr. T needed all that for, although in the early 1986 SNME i did notice Mr. T had a group of people with him, i wonder if that's who they were making reference to. --Terminator14 (talk) 19:17, 6 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

"The 50 Greatest Moments at Madison Square Garden"

I was just watching "The 50 Greatest Moments at Madison Square Garden" last Saturday, July 12, 2008 on ION Television and "Wrestlemania" was mentioned being at number thirty. Is this important information and if so should this be mentioned in the article? Any feedback would be appreciated. Gibsonj338 (talk) 05:36, 16 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Pre-GA review

Sorry about not getting to this sooner. Once again, I think you've written a great article. A few things to consider:

  1. I believe the picture of Hulk Hogan and Mr. T needs a separate fair use rationale for this article. I don't believe that listing the articles as part of the rationale is sufficient.
    Done. Nikki311 00:27, 21 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
  2. In the preliminary matches section, the repetition of "Windham" in "After Rotundo tagged in his partner Windham, Windham performed a bulldog on The Sheik." is kind of awkward. He is stated to be Rotundo's partner earlier in the paragraph, so perhaps something could be trimmed from "his partner Windham".
    Done. Nikki311 00:27, 21 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
  3. The quotation from Powell in the quotation box is repeated from the prose in the Reception section, which seems redundant. My suggestion is to summarize the quotation in the prose instead (eg. "He claimed the main event match, in which Mr. T took part, was humorous despite its lack of technical wrestling.").
    Done. Nikki311 00:27, 21 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
  4. Consistency is needed in the References section for the publishers: World Wrestling Entertainment vs. WWE.com.
    Done. Nikki311 00:27, 21 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
  5. It is best not to begin paragraphs with a number, so a slight rephrasing at the beginning of the Production section would help.
    Done. Nikki311 00:27, 21 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

I hope this helps. GaryColemanFan (talk) 19:49, 20 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned references in WrestleMania (1985)

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of WrestleMania (1985)'s orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "Gerweck":

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 23:25, 2 June 2010 (UTC) --Nascarking (talk) 17:00, 19 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Moved behind our backs

This has been discussed that we moved WrestleMania I to WrestleMania (1985). Whoever moved it back did so without consensus.I never did see a move request in the last 7 days or so on this talk page. I could be wrong but I haven't seen one.--Nascarking 22:11, 29 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Final Discussion

{{movenotice|WrestleMania (1985)}} Over the last few days Feedback has moved this page from WrestleMania (1985) to WrestleMania I without even once putting this up for discussion with any of the members of WikiWrestling. I tried to move it back to what we had come to a consensus the 1st time WrestleMania (1985), but Feedback moved it back without giving any notice. So I've decided enough is enough. We're putting this up to a Final Discussion and settling this ONCE AND FOR ALL! We're gonna decide weather we should keep it as WrestleMania I or move it to WrestleMania (1985) and leave it there for GOOD.--Nascarking 21:55, 1 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

But it was discussed over at WT:PW already. I believe having a pagemove discussion on the main project talk page rather than simply here enables and encourages more project members to paticipate in the process. Agree? Instead of going through the whole process again, why not add your thoughts on the issue @ Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Professional wrestling#WrestleMania (1985) istead?--UnquestionableTruth-- 02:28, 2 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
Wikipedia disagrees with you, as you have had pointed out to you on multiple occasions in the past. This article isn't the property of a single Wikiproject, so the discussion should be open to Wikipedia as a whole. GaryColemanFan (talk) 22:32, 2 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
Know your role GCF... Nascarking has retracted his opposition... 'less you got anything else to add.--UnquestionableTruth-- 22:52, 2 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
I am well aware that my role is continually pointing out to you the fact that you rely on bullying and intentional ignorance to bypass Wikipedia policies and guidelines. GaryColemanFan (talk) 21:35, 3 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
Well I hope you feel better knowing that. Smiley :) --UnquestionableTruth-- 21:49, 3 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Contemporary reception needed

Looking back on a show is fun, but it would be useful to relay what people at the time thought. I hear it was indeed a happening. InedibleHulk (talk) 18:04, 24 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

GA concerns

I am concerned that this article no longer meets the good article criteria because of uncited text throughout the article, including entire paragraphs. Is anyone willing to address this concern, or should this go to WP:GAR? Z1720 (talk) 02:26, 26 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
