For improvements to the article, why not mention 63rd St. in the old days?

For a fun factoid on Woodlawn, Hugh Hefner put together the first Playboy while living near the power plant on Blackstone. Amelia Earhart was a grad of Hyde Park HS in Woodlawn.

Inner City Chicago

I'm not sure why this is a sub-title, and for the record, it existed before I made the first post in it. Does whoever created the "Inner City Chicago" sub-title know where Woodlawn is located? If they think that Woodlawn, Chicago is in inner city Chicago, then Inner city needs to be redefined. 173.75.117.35 (talk) 05:26, 20 December 2015 (UTC)

I've lived in Woodlawn a long, long time and I wonder about the article's references to "improvement" in Woodlawn. *In the part of the neighborhood adjoining the University of Chicago,* it is true that crime has dropped, and that students are no longer officialy discouraged from living here. But that's mostly because of the University Police patrolling that area, and because wealthier, often white professional families are moving in. Gentrification here is not a unilateral "improvement." The shrinking of the rental housing market and the rise in property taxes have been displacing a lot of longtime, lower-income African American residents. Affordable housing is now in even shorter supply.

Yes, because a lower crime rate and an influx of intelligent, hardworking, tax PAYING citizens is never an improvement to an area. Nope. Can't have that.
