Merge
This will likely be merged with Funeral, unless the article is expandad, particularly in regard to differing cultural viewing practices. - RoyBoy 800 05:21, 30 September 2005 (UTC)
I think Wake (ceremony) should be merged with this page.

Viewing, visitation, and wake
It might be useful to clarify the difference between "Viewing", "Visitation", and "Wake". Though each of these can be different events, they are sometimes merged. However, this topic might be best approached through a higher level article such as Funeral. However, the funeral article is very broad and should probably be split apart by custom. External links modified
Hello fellow Wikipedians,
I have just added archive links to one external link on Viewing (funeral). Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add Template:Tlx after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add Template:Tlx to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:
- Added archive https://web.archive.org/20071217141958/http://www.funerals.org:80/faq/visit.htm to http://www.funerals.org/faq/visit.htm
When you have finished reviewing my changes, please set the checked parameter below to true to let others know.
Cheers. —cyberbot IITalk to my owner:Online 14:42, 15 October 2015 (UTC)
Fuzzy subject & scope
This article has a fair amount of info on viewings, but it also has a lot of stuff that’s relevant to funerals overall, but not to viewings in particular.
The subject and scope need to be clarified overall – is it viewings? Viewings and visitations? There appears to be a lot of redundancy between this article and Funeral#Visitation, but also a significant contradiction. That article presents “viewing” and “visitation” as synonyms. Currently, this article presents visitations as a type of viewing, but also, not a viewing at all. Very confusing! I don’t know enough about the subject to fix it, but it needs attention from someone who does.
