You forgot he did kill the Irishman
You failed to mention kill the Irishman 2600:8803:9900:15F0:F573:4DF0:67D4:20E2 (talk) 05:20, 2 April 2025 (UTC)
Did Val Kilmer ever smoke?
It says he had throat cancer several years before he died. Did Kilmer ever smoke? Smoking is not mentioned anywhere in his bio. Thanks in advance to anybody who knows. Betathetapi454 (talk) 08:25, 2 April 2025 (UTC)
- Yes, had a long history of heaving smoking starting as early at 8. Probably quit sometime near his cancer diagnosis. https://oncodaily.com/stories/celebrities/val-kilmer-cancer

- They say he died from pneumonia, but could it have been more like a cancer-related death afterall?—AnnaBruta (talk) 16:09, 2 April 2025 (UTC)
Cherokee roots (sic)
If the community insists on including a reference to Val Kilmer's debatable Cherokee roots, I feel that it should be to mention that while Kilmer claimed such ancestry, there are no reputable sources of such. Right now the only source linked to for this claim in the Wikipedia article is one paywalled article by the Telegraph that doesn't allow readers to verify the claim at all, and any other sources they may find online say his claims of Cherokee ancestry are false.
At the very least, it would make sense to simply say something like "Kilmer believed he had Cherokee ancestry". Tsukikage85 (talk) 14:56, 3 April 2025 (UTC)
- Can't say what he believed since you can't read his mind. Can't say he claimed to be Cherokee because that implies your skepticism, and is not neutral tone. He said he had Cherokee ancestry. That would be appropriate. If there have been published disputes the authority of the dispute should questioned.

Filmography needs an update

Tributes
I do not find it prudent to include an inventory of names of people paying tributes, especially when there's nothing being attributed to them outside of "They paid tribute". The Mann, Coppola, Cruise, Stone and Densmore listings at least have a quote attributed to them to highlight Kilmer. What is necessary about noting Chris Pratt paid tribute? or Tom Green? What about their tributes is of substance? Rusted AutoParts 21:41, 26 April 2025 (UTC)
- It's better to have a short list of names than have a giant section full of quotes from every single famous person who paid tribute to him, just like a bunch of other articles have, but somehow only this one is worthy of selective outrage. If some of those names bother you, then remove it after discussing in the talk page. You just removed everything again BEFORE discussing in the talk page. Other than petty and endless edit warring, how is that helpful? Zoolver (talk) 22:16, 26 April 2025 (UTC)
- WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS isn't a valid reason to keep including. The point remains, what about these tributes is worth noting outside of noting these people paid tribute? At what point is it just listcruft? Rusted AutoParts 22:57, 26 April 2025 (UTC)
- First, that is not a short list of names. Second, we don't need a giant list of names nor a giant list of quotes. It' simply not WP:DUE and adds nothing to a reader's understanding. Beyond that, most of the sources are shit (e.g. direct links to Twitter and YouTube or tabloid type outlets). It needs to be removed. ~ HAL333 00:33, 27 April 2025 (UTC)
The lead nearly contains the filmography
There's a separate section for filmography, it doesn't need to be replicated in the lead. I'm guessing people have been adding their favorites to the lead since that is the most read part of the article, and this is one of the more popular articles since his death. I've shortened the list to a handful for readability.
