Flag Icon

The Canada flag icon for participating nations seems dated/incorrect? SquashEngineer (talk) 14:49, 10 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Map on voting results

the map that describes what each country in the UN voted for uses modern borders - for example, the borders of Germany are modern and not divided, Jugoslavia does not exist, and Ukraine is present on the map despite being part of the Soviet Union. Should this be corrected? Sebimus (talk) 22:41, 8 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

There's nothing to correct as far as the Soviet Union is concerned; you'll notice neither the Baltic nations nor the nations of Central Asia are on the map. The map shows countries that were awarded separate seats within the UN General Assembly in 1948—including Ukraine and Belorussia, who were given their own seats at Stalin's insistence. I'm less certain about Yugoslavia; the map seems to show each of the country's constituent republics in 1948 (hence why Kosovo is shown as being part of Serbia), but AFAIK Yugoslavia's republics didn't have their own seats in the General Assembly. 78.3.78.42 (talk) 09:48, 30 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
