UID could also be shown as Unique IDentification (a new globally unique "part identifier" containing data elements used to track DoD parts through their life cycle.).

I'm not up to speed on changing a redirection yet, so I won't touch this one.

I removed the URL from the above because it is a dead link, and because the item mentioned is now listed on the dab page ("Item Unique Identification system"). Johnuniq (talk) 07:25, 4 December 2012 (UTC)
