Photographer available and a question

I currently live on Tybee Island and would be happy to supply with current pictures of whatever is necessary. Also, I don't know the protocol on these things... Claudine's Return, a film starring Christina Applegate was filmed here. Would it be appropriate to link to it on this page? JohnCub 22:25, 24 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

And by "this page" I meant the article, not the talk page JohnCub 07:52, 25 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

And now I don't live there so I close this offer. JohnCub 00:48, 22 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Lighthouse stamp image

I removed the stamp/lighthouse image due to __possible__ copyright violations... don't know for sure. Either way, I e-mailed a few Tybee websites and one gave me a few links to images which aren't covered under copyrights so I'll be adding them tonight. JoeHenzi 06:27, 21 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Removed image as it is probable copyvio of USPS (c) Caltrop 11:56, 4 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
I was lead to believe the stamp came from a website, sorry. Either way, the new images are better (photographs) JoeHenzi 23:46, 28 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Reader Comments?

I edited out the "reader comments" someone put into the entry; if anyone wants to re-integrate those points into the actual article, they are free to, but having a contradictory "this is wrong" statement tacked on to the entry is not the proper way to use wikipedia.

History: The Raid on Tybee Island

During the Revolutionary War a party of white men, some dressed as American Indians, raided and massacred the inhabitants of Tybee Island, some 200 runaway slaves. This event was triggered by the proclamation of Lord Dunmore, who promised freedom to any black slave who joined the British and took up arms against the new American nation. The Charlestown Council of Public Safety, led by Henry Laurens, together with Steven Bull, colonel of the Georgia militia, planned and executed the raid.

That this history is not included in the page is strange -- perhaps some talk can change that. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tdbrady22 (talkcontribs) 21:08, 30 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Pronunciation needed

I just saw a television program that pronounced it "Tibby" Island. I'm pretty sure that's not how it's done. ;) Is there a local who can weigh in?

It would be nice to have a pronunciation added similar to how it's done in the article for Worcester, Massachusetts.

Thanks! 1980fast (talk) 04:51, 28 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

I always hear it pronounced as in "tie-bee." I have not heard it pronounced "tibby" in a long while. Historical-Buff (talk) 16:36, 24 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Explanation of changes/potentially unprofessional edit?

I have altered this page this morning (7/23/2024, 0427 EDT) to correct the wording of the accident. Here's the scale of my corrections.

  1. Changed 1971 mentioning of an accident. The accident was in 1958, not 1971.
  2. Altered "Bobby 17" bomb mentioning. I have no clue what a "Bobby 17" bomb even is.
