Talk:Transamination

Template:WikiProject banner shell I think this page should be a redirection to Transaminase. That article says the same and more. I did the same for Transamine. For now I just put a link here to Transaminase. I don't know if I could just erase it all and rederict without notice.

I don't think this one should be eliminated: it conveys certain understanding not present in the transamination article. But could you revise the sentence "This reaction uses the coenzyme PLP, and is a fact to be a kinetically perfect reaction," specifically the clause "...is a fact to be..."? I certainly do NOT think it should be redirected. It is a pity that it implies tranamination only happens in vivo; a counter example is the work done by D L Leussing's group in the 1960's, eg D. L. Leussing and D. C. Schultz, J. Am. Chem. Soc, 86, 4846 (1964). A number of papers were published about transamination in vitro, catalyzed by transition metal containing species.
