This article is about music predating the separation of North and South, i.e. traditional music. K-Pop belongs in Music of South Korea. Ktaec (talk) 18:09, 19 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Contemporary music

Section only talks about idol music. Other major contemporary styles like ballad, trot, indie/rock, hiphop, R&B and fusion gugak need to be included. Ktaec (talk) 19:56, 27 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Music of KoreaTraditional Music of KoreaTraditional Music of Korea – Current title is ambiguous and potentially confusing. This article is exclusively about music that is categorized as "traditional" today which predates the separation of North and South. Other pages that follow along the lines of "Music of ..." have probably not had a division in recent history and so it makes sense for the music of those countries to have one cohesive article. As can be seen in the talk page and edit history, there has been confusion and additions of contemporary South Korean music, which does not belong in this article. Meanwhile the page is somewhat difficult to find for someone who is looking for information about Korean traditional music and I think it is necessary to have a separate page about that specific subject. Following the pattern of having a "Music of ..." as well as "... Traditional Music" article would be redundant in this case, simply adding "traditional" to the title would solve those issues.
