Why did they cancel this race? I assume sponsorship, but why didn't any other sponsors step in? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.174.71.38 (talk • contribs) 16:14, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
- This is now addressed in more detail in the article. Cordless Larry (talk) 17:38, 12 April 2016 (UTC)
edition
Template:Did you know nominations/Tour DuPont
In the proposed DYK and in the entry at present (DuPont withdrew their sponsorship of the race after the 1996 edition) the word "edition" is used in a way unfamiliar to this American. I also have no familiarity with cycling. Is it sports lingo? I suspect it will be peculiar to many readers. And it's easy to restate. First two years. Especially if we say that it's an annual event. - I only initially used it to introduce a bit of variety in the language used in the article really, Template:U, but it is commonly used in cycling. See Tour de France, where it is used quite a lot (and note that it also features in the cycling race infobox there). I'm open-minded about changing it in the DYK, though.
