George Nethercutt

I don't see why the last portion in the "Term Limits" section is necessary. If people want to read about George Nethercutt, they can click on his name. 67.183.188.199 22:42, 1 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Term Limits / 1994 campaign

It's also very selective history to say the 1994 election was all about term limits. The NRA poured huge amounts of advertising money into E WA that summer and fall, including specific anti-Foley ads starring Charlton Heston, in spite of the NRA endorsing Foley many, many times. His sin? He supported the 94 crime bill which included a ban on flash suppressors for semi-automatic rifles. You know. For hunting.

Companion of Honour  ?

I Cannot find proof Anywhere That Tom Foley was indeed given the Order of the Companions of Honour Can Someone please give me Justification as to Why He is included in the Companions of Honour Category Thank You Michael Drew 02:16, 26 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

Tsunami of Triumph?

I think the phrase the Republican electoral tsunami of triumph of 1994 in the Term Limits section is a bit ridiculous. I would recommend simply eliminating the words "tsunami of".

Birthday

Can someone please confirm that his Birthday is March 26. I read elsewhere that is is March 6, 1929

One reference?

This has a whopping total of 1 reference. That is just sad. You would think information about a former US Speaker of the House would be easy to access and readily available. I hope someone does something... Anon134 (talk) 06:41, 13 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Why is he called a "cracker" for his ethnicity? I thought that was a slang or offensive term.Otdave (talk) 06:59, 27 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Fixed, thank you for bringing the vandalism to our attention. WuhWuzDat 07:03, 27 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Smited? Flags (not) to Half-Staff

Mr. Foley passed on October 18. On October 28, President Obama ordered flags to be flown at half-staff on October 29. The Presidential Proclamation is here: www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/2013/10/28/esidential-proclamation-death-thomas-s-foley-former-speaker-house-repres. The problem is that according to U.S. Code Title 4, Section 7, Subsection (m) (aka The Flag Code,), "The flag shall be flown at half-staff...10 days from the day of death of...the Speaker of the House of Representatives..." http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/4/7. Even though the President failed to issue a Proclamation, US flags at his official residence and Congress were being flown at half-staff. --189.122.201.52 (talk) 22:19, 30 October 2013 (UTC)Reply
