Early stellar astronomy

Babylonian astronomers (I do not have specifics) recorded temporal stellar observations in star charts many years before Hipparchus. I do not have specifics, but the Babylonian star charts were dated back as far as the reign of Hammurapi. These charts specified more the time intervals of when stars were present or when they were not as opposed to the geometric data of the ancient Greek astronomers.
