Write a reference as you usually would in a template that is most appropriate for your reference: Template:Tl, Template:Tl, Template:Tl, Template:Tl. Use in cavity magnetrons filaments (used in microwave ovens)
The page on cavity magnetrons states Thorium is used in the filaments of the magnetron. It would be interesting to find references to support this and to mention it under the applications for / uses of Thorium.
On the matter of "discovery"
In the article introduction the following is stated: "Thorium was discovered in 1828 by the Norwegian amateur mineralogist Morten Thrane Esmark".
So how come the sidebar credits the discovery to Berzelius, the man who identified, but did not discover it? Taakeulven (talk) 23:08, 2 February 2025 (UTC)
- Because the sidebar is correct. Thorium#Discovery has a fuller account: the younger Esmark found an interesting mineral, his father (the elder Esmark) determined it was not previously known and sent it to Berzelius, and Berzelius was the one who discovered that there was a new element within.
