Citing sources

The basis for this article seems to be an article on a web site called Bellum.[1] Although the site generally looks good, its article about technicals has an empty "sources" section. It is not good enough to satisfy Wikipedia's requirements for citing sources—it is what Wikipedia refers to as a self-published source, which is not considered reliable or verifiable.

Let's find a better reference. Michael Z. 2007-07-28 15:17 Z

suggested addition

the re should be a referance to the Ludlow_Massacre and the "death special"

Quotation out of context

“The irregular vehicles were likewise accompanied by a lack of chain of command amongst the Chadians, typical of guerrilla warfare.[citation needed] According to the Time article: "We have no ranks," says Abdul Osman, 21. "We are all combatants, we are all volunteers."[6]”

The quotation is of a soldier speaking about eating arrangements while in the field. The article describes the Chad forces organized in regiments and escadrons, so the statement about lack of chain of command is not supported. Chadian conflict section needs help

I understand how it got this way--- but the sequence needs help. The "Great Toyota War" now commonly refers to the very end of the conflict in 1987-1988, but Time Magazine referred to the earlier parts as the "Great Toyota War" in 1984. It's confusing for the section to say that it refers to events in '87 and became so famous that Time named the conflict the Great Toyota War in 1984. OTOH I don't know how to fix it :D 2001:470:4A39:1:0:0:0:A72 (talk) 06:54, 18 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

To add to this, in the introduction, technicals are stated as "mostly helpless against any air support they might see from a proper army." In the Toyota War, Chadian technical cavalry went up against a "proper army" with real air support and won. 64.147.0.194 (talk) 17:28, 20 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

New lead image

I suggest we swap this in as the lead image: the composition is striking, and it shows the classic technical vehicle, a Toyota Land Cruiser. I believe the mounted weapon is the DShK machine gun, another classic technical pick, but I'll leave that determination to the pros. Jpatokal (talk) 21:56, 24 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
