Talk:Tatar alphabet
Script error: No such module "Banner shell". Template:Broken anchors
The last table does not show well (its header; some last columns are not properly separated). I tried to correct it a little but did not manage to.
Screwy table
The table for the alphabet change is kinda screwed up. I translated the heads of the columns into English, but they don't line up right (and sometimes don't seem to show). If anybody could get that to work right, that'd be nice
İQTElif
Does anyone know anything about İQTElif?
User:Ultranet seems to like it a lot and presents a lot of reasons for it, but can anyone confirm its usage anywhere? I have a strong suspicion that it is original research. --Amir E. Aharoni 13:25, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
Tatar Wikipedia
Which version of the Latin alphabet is used at the Tatar Wikipedia?
Thanks. --Amir E. Aharoni 13:37, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
- I don't speak the language, but I'd say it's Zamanälif, based on the use of "ä", which seems to not exist in ÍQTElif. 65.57.245.11 23:49, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
The article calls the alphabet "Zamanälif", claiming this to be the native spelling, but the Tatar Wikipedia uses "Yañalif" for the corresponding section header. Whence this difference? 65.57.245.11 23:49, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
Ultranet's edits
I reverted User:Ultranet's edits that restored the parts about İQTElif. I can understand his frustration about the issue, but the reasons for deleting it are outlined and discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/İQTElif.
Also, i restored "citation needed" notices on the parts about "human rights violations". The link to the Russian federal law about alphabets works now, but it doesn't explain how does it constitute a human rights violation. --Amir E. Aharoni 17:35, 29 July 2007 (UTC)
IPA transcription
I came here to provide an IPA transcription, per the template saying that it was needed, but I am unable to transcribe the contents of this article for the following reason:
- The layman's pronunciations given were clearly given by someone whose dialect of English is very different than mine, and I am unable to decipher what sounds they intend by their example words. For example, "kiss" and "read" are given as examples of the ĺ sound. This is a problem because in my dialect, they are two completely different vowels, [ɪ] and [i]. Since I don't speak Tatar, I don't know which of these sounds this letter actually corresponds to. Unless it is possible to clean up the example sounds so they are more standardized English pronunciation, you may need to find someone who both speaks Tatar and can transcribe IPA to get the transcriptions you need on this page. keɪɑtɪk flʌfi (talk) 14:28, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
"ɵ" or "ө" ?
There is different between "ɵ" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C6%9F and "ө" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D3%A8
Once is Latin and one is Cyrilic. So which one was accepted by the Tatar government? There is difference between them, and altough Latin was introduced, in this article as well as on the internet is used Cyrilic variant of it.

zamanalif should be deleted
as i know, and i know it quite well, zamanalif is just "original research" alphabet developed by 1 or 2 persons, and they themselves have written about it here. and this alphabet was used only in his/their several sites. and that sites do not work now, for several years. --Qdinar (talk) 16:30, 22 March 2012 (UTC)
