Quaint, but meaningless
Whist is might be quaint to have a piture entitled '"Dragons teeth" antitank obstacles by the River Wey' in the article, without any context in the article itself it is about as meaningful as having a picture claiming to be a foootpath created by alien invaders on their way through England.
Really, such context-free quaintness has no place in an actual encyclopaedia. 86.142.227.36 (talk) 20:47, 9 April 2023 (UTC)
- You mean apart from the bit that says: <templatestyles src="Template:Blockquote/styles.css" />
Script error: No such module "Check for unknown parameters". Right next to the "quaint" image? Murgatroyd49 (talk) 09:03, 10 April 2023 (UTC)During the Second World War a section of the GHQ Stop Line, a system of pillboxes, gun emplacements, anti-tank obstacles and other fortifications, was constructed along the North Downs.
Addition to "In Popular Culture"
I would just like to add that in the game "Rise of the Tomb Raider", it is established that the Croft Manor is also in Surrey, England. I saw Harry Potter was mentioned, so I thought that it would be nice to see Tomb Raider mentioned as well. Here is a link to a video that shows the first cutscene of the Croft Manor, and in the bottom right of the video, it gives us the location of the manor, which is Surrey, England. "Local government" section no longer accurate
I'm not sure which sources I'd need to cite to change this part of the article, but as of July last year, the section stating that the Tories hold all 11 parliamentary constituencies is no longer accurate. 2A00:23CC:BC6C:701:A0B9:9B66:C381:4CFC (talk) 17:01, 1 June 2025 (UTC)
- IIRC the gov.uk site has a list of current members and their constituencies. Murgatroyd49 (talk) 17:18, 1 June 2025 (UTC)
