Mass estimate using gravity lens method

- I used that source at List of most massive black holes about three hours before this was posted here. ☆ Bri (talk) 04:57, 30 March 2023 (UTC)
Less technical explanation of the maximum mass limit
I would love a less technical description of what causes the maximum mass limit. I am not capable of writing it myself and the current version is hard to decipher for a non-expert. Pastej (talk) 07:32, 30 March 2023 (UTC)
- Are you referring to the limit based on Eddington luminosity? Praemonitus (talk) 13:37, 30 March 2023 (UTC)
Supermassive Black Hole (SBH)
The abbreviation of the three words supermassive black hole is the three letters SBH. 2607:FB91:1993:15C9:528:B285:B138:9C93 (talk) 21:55, 14 August 2023 (UTC)
- True, but a majority of published scientific papers use the SMBH abbreviation. Perhaps this is because it is more distinctive in searches? Regardless, both uses should be mentioned for this reason. Praemonitus (talk) 03:12, 15 August 2023 (UTC)
- The astronomy literature uses SMBH vastly more than SBH. We should follow the literature here. - Parejkoj (talk) 16:29, 15 August 2023 (UTC)
- Also, SBH is an abbreviation of stellar black hole, so SMBH avoids ambiguity. Praemonitus (talk) 01:46, 16 August 2023 (UTC)
