Talk:Summon magic (Final Fantasy)
Improvements(?)
It strikes me that this article, as currently formatted, is a little unwieldy. I'm wondering if it might make sense to subcategorized the game section by game? Also, it might pay to come up with some sort of policy regarding what summons we describe. Clearly we can't cover them all, and certain summons (Shiva, Ifrit, Ramuh, Leviathan, Odin, Bahamut, etc.) are pretty much givens. But do all of the others really deserve entries? Specifically, are Alexander and Fenrir notable enough that we need to include them? Not that I claim to have the answers, but it just seems that we need to institute some sort of editorial control, or this article is going to spiral entirely out of control.... – Seancdaug 04:13, 17 December 2005 (UTC)
- I agree. I think the format should be similar to Final Fantasy airships. I would make it much easier to link others articles here by making subheadings, such as Guardian Force linking by [[Summon magic (Final Fantasy)#Final Fantasy VIII|Guardian Force]] or something similar. ~ Hibana 13:43, 17 December 2005 (UTC)
- I also agree; possibly divide it up by games, or possibly by the different classifications given to the (Aeons, G.F. ect.) because depending upon the game; certain Summons are rather important [Alexander in FFIX]. The Information; more or less is fine, but alittle organiztion is needed. ~ Vejita825 06 18:02, March 2006 (UTC)
Shiva + Squall
- In Final Fantasy VIII for example, Shiva demonstrated a clear affinity for the main protagonist.
I'm curious about what this comment was in reference to. I just deleted it because I couldn't think of anything to support it. Druff 21:33, 21 December 2005 (UTC)
Shiva named for another reason?
Not only does Shiva share the name with the Hindu god, but it sounds a little bit like Shiver, which could have something to do with its element as ice. Possible?
I seriously doubt this, the game was made in japanese and therefore the people designing would be unlike to attempt some sort of deity word play in english. More likely they would pick a Hindu god that had a name that sounded like the japanese word for 'shiver' although admittedly I have no idea what this is!
FFIX containing summons in CGI sequences
There was a note on Final Fantasy XI being the first game to feature summoned creatures in CGI sequences. Although it's true because of plot important, the FMV ending of the PlayStation version of Final Fantasy VI (released before FFXI) has a scene with Alexander facing Kefka in his final form. ~ Hibana 18:20, 16 January 2006 (UTC)
- also i seem to remember some FMV of Alex in FFIX, and i'm sure there are other occurances too. - Paul 82.42.64.179 16:50, 2 April 2006 (UTC)
- Maybe I am mistaken(3D modeling in battle summons?), but FF VII have CGI sequences for the summons, too. MythSearcher 17:15, 2 April 2006 (UTC)
