Grugahalle
The Messe Essen is located next to the Grugahalle, and they share some resources, but it is not true that the fairgroud is called Grugahalle. I fixed that in the article. --84.61.133.13 (talk) 16:46, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

I've added a citation needed tag to the attendance numbers. The stated source does not include many of the figures given.

Should this article be really called Spiel?
The German word Spiel has more general meanings. And most English-speaking sources refer to the event as the "Internationale Spieltage"[1][2] or the "Essen Game Fair" informally. When mentions of these two terms redirect to an article with the generic name Spiel (not usually mentioned in the sources) it feels like there's been a mistake (I had to click on the same link twice before realizing that I actually opened the right page the first time).
Suggestion: rename article to "Internationale Spieltage SPIEL".

- Since this is the English server for Wikipedia, I would suggest that the English name for this event be used, i.e. "Essen Game Fair", if this Wikipedia article is going to have a name change from its current German title, i.e. Spiel.13:09, 20 June 2024 (UTC)
