History overview in article lead

I believe the current lead does not appropriately sum up the history of the region. It focusses disproportionately on the region's interaction with foreign powers (Mongols, Europeans, Japanese) and also on more recent events. If others agree, I think the final two paragraphs of the lead should be rewritten to briefly summarise the major historical periods in the penultimate paragraph, and include an overview of the current situation in SE Asia in the final paragraph. I disagree with your assessment. The current lead provides a comprehensive overview of the region's history, including its interactions with foreign powers and recent events. It's important to maintain a balanced perspective, and I believe the lead accomplishes that. 207.96.13.213 (talk) 18:59, 23 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

In relation to ASEAN

I want to say... The addition of Timor-Leste to ASEAN would be the Association's full addition of the entire Southeast Asia. Someone (either I or anybody else) will update the other article, ASEAN. 2405:4803:C6A0:CFE0:E0DF:8E4A:A80F:AD8B (talk) 07:54, 31 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
