U.S.?

This article states: "The Sniper ATP is in service with Norway, Oman, Poland, Singapore, Canada, Belgium, Turkey, Saudi Arabia[3] and the UK MoD." Wonder if the Americans use it too? Also, clearly some UK-phile has been editing this - "UK MoD" is listed as a user, why not just United Kingdom like all of the other countries listed? System designation usage

The article states the Sniper ATP is in use on several different aircraft types. But, there are two different system designations mentioned; AN/AAQ-33 or AN/AAQ-40. Does anyone have a source that describes which designation is installed on which aircraft type? Never mind... On closer reading, it appears there are (maybe) 4 distinct systems and only two carry the AN/AAQ Joint Electronics Type Designation System (JETDS) nomenclatures. The article mentions:

• Sniper Advanced Targeting Pod (ATP) - AN/AAQ-33
• Sniper Extended Range (XR) - No designation, or is this just another name for the EOTS system?
• Electro-Optical Targeting System (EOTS) - AN/AAQ-40
• Sniper Advanced Targeting Pod - Sensor Enhancement (ATP-SE) - No designation

Does anyone have a source that describes the JETDS designation for the XR and ATP-SE versions? My Google searches are not helping... — TadgStirkland⁴⁰¹ (Tadg^Talk) 21:22, 28 May 2025 (UTC)

I just deleted 1 archived press release and 2 bare URLs listed on the External links section. The press release hardly mentions the Sniper pod in passing, and so is not of much use. I tried to access the 2 bare URLs, and when they did not work, I searched https://web.archive.org to no avail. For the Lockheed press release (second link), I tried searching the Lockheed press release site to find the release. In the interest of wanting to improve the article, I'll leave those URLs here for anyone that wants to locate any archived copy.
