Name
I believe her surname would pronounced (owing to the "c"'s having a hacek) "shpah-chek". I have edited this accordingly. I'm a native English speaker, but I'm a resident in the Czech Republic and reasonably fluent in Czech, certainly enough to realise that the "c" with a hacek is pronounced (for English speakers) like "ch" and not "cz". Miss Sherri? Romper Room
"Spacek is also an ardent crusader for women's lib."
"Women's lib?" I haven't heard that expression for a couple of decades.
- So what, Sissy Spacek has been around for a couple of decades. --DrTorstenHenning 11:40, 23 October 2005 (UTC)
Oscar succession box?
Does this box really improve the article? There is so such thing as a reigning Oscar winner, all Oscar winners are Oscar winners for life. I would recommend to remove the box. Any opinions? --DrTorstenHenning 12:29, 27 March 2006 (UTC)
Lead section
Given that the article is short at this time, I think the very concise lead is appropriate. Who disagrees? --DrTorstenHenning (talk) 14:30, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
- I agree. Attention should be given to expanding the article. Then a fuller lead would follow. Wildhartlivie (talk) 16:05, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
Breathless tone
The article is written in an admiring breathless gee-whiz fan club sort of tone. Does this count as POV?
- It does. Feel free to improve the article. --DrTorstenHenning (talk) 13:45, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
I tried to get most of the fanboyism out. I don't know if there's a guideline on this, but how much do we have to(or are allowed to) describe a certain actor's/actresses's roles in their own articles? I thought this article spends way too much time describing her role characters. I edited the ones which had obvious POV in them, for example the ones using words like "hilarious", "beatiful" etc. (Vehement (talk) 17:26, 26 December 2009 (UTC))
Is anybody named Oilman's?
The article says her mother's maiden name was "Oilman's." Seems improbable.
- Old vandalism. All Hallow's Wraith (talk) 20:36, 20 June 2008 (UTC)
New Film
She is going to be in a new movie called The Help in 2011. She plays Missus Walters
