risque

My wife was working in a Canadian Bookstore when Madonna's 'Sex' came out. The store kept one unsealed copy behind the counter, so that adult patrons could see the contents before buying. After a few days, the store staff learned to only make the viewing copy available if a specific request was made, as they found that anyone that actually saw what the contents of the book were didn't end up buying it. Maybe people assumed that the fact that it was sold wrapped in plastic meant that it was far more risque than it really was...

Citations

There is only one citation in this whole article, and it's a dead link. --DOHC Holiday (talk) 05:22, 23 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

A great number of the "Critical Reception" quotes are taken out of context to have the reader believe that their respective authors were appalled by Madonna's book--however, when the articles are actually explored, it becomes clear that most of the authors were defending her book, and condemning those who thought the book's material too inappropriate. They're all really obvious misquotes. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.121.93.120 (talk) 02:26, 16 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

The Japanese Edition

This article contradicts itself by saying that 1 million copies of the Japanese edition were printed, and then in the next paragraph saying that 500,000 copies were printed. Which is correct? TheMindsEye 04:06, 5 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Evaluation

Lots of content; the only thing missing from B (or even GA) is references. --AnonEMouse (squeak) 16:17, 15 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Broken link

The link regarding it being among the most challenged books of the nineties goes to a non-existent article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.226.136.46 (talk) 21:21, 9 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Original cost

I've been through the argument before, but I have to ask - surely the statements of the current enhanced value of the book (supported by estimated prices), would be more useful if the article stated the original selling price? Due to past experience, I am merely making the observation, not recommending that this information be added. I would be grateful if anyone could tell me the original cost, however. 49.95 USD Mrlopez2681 (talk) 16:34, 29 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

To add to that, the idea that a $50 book now being worth 2-3x that as "very valuable" is pretty silly. "Very valuable" would be a book that is worth $100,000. Many books double or triple in value over 10-20 years. Sex was released in massive numbers and so has not appreciated much. 76.65.6.178 (talk) 22:48, 31 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Video section

There are users who have been deleting this sections on the grounds that there are no "references". As one can clearly see, the article has little references as a whole, but these passages have not been deleted.

The section is certainly important to the article. --Mrlopez2681 (talk) 16:32, 29 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Prototype cover is a FAKE

the so called "prototype" cover is a chineese fake that is sometimes sold on eBay.

Book title

The name printed on the book cover reads SEX, shouldn't it be written in capital letters in the article? Johnnyboytoy (talk) 00:51, 7 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

No that's just stylization. Please see WP:NCCAPS. —IB [ Poke ] 08:33, 7 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

"The book has since become one of the most sought-after out-of-print books ever released" - ummmm.....

I'm looking at a few dozen copies available on Amazon right now for between $70-$100. A tad above average, perhaps, but certainly nothing remotely close to justifying that claim. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.224.73.84 (talk) 05:05, 29 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
