Earl of Huntingdon

FWIW: The death date of her husband as reported in Burke's Peerage (#106) is October 13, 1747. Cokayne's Complete Peerage gives October 13, 1746. (Of the two, CP is more likely to be right, but it would be good to have another source.) CP also quotes a letter written to Selina by "a Duchess" scolding her for her support of the Methodist preachers "It is monstrous to be told that you have a heart as sinful as the common wretches that crawl on the earth. This is highly offensive and insulting, and I cannot but wonder that your Ladyship should relish any sentiments so much at variance with high rank and good breeding."-- Someone else 22:41 27 May 2003 (UTC)

There was not yet an article for Theophilus Hastings, 9th Earl of Huntingdon, so for the time being I have changed the redlink to Theophilus Hastings, 9th Earl of Huntingdon. If the article for the former gets added in future, please change the link back again. DFH 19:21, 20 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Disambiguation needed

There needs to be a disambiguation page for the biographer Selina Hastings. wikibiohistory 13:05, 21 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Trevecca College

I have tidied up and expanded the section on the College. Previously it appeared she founded two Colleges. There is also common confusion that Trevecca College, founded by the Countess, is the same as Coleg Trefeca, which I have sought to clarify.DigbyJames (talk) 11:26, 10 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

This does not add up

"The couple had six children, four of whom died in childhood, and one (a daughter, also Selina) at the age of 26. The other two were" I make that seven. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.169.162.100 (talk) 14:01, 22 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Slave Narrative Support

"...the Countess promoted the writings and independence of formerly enslaved Africans who promoted religious views compatible with her own..." Do any references for the part of this statement in bold exist? Please add, if so. Jarpoet (talk) 10:00, 9 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
