Title
The current title of this article, "Tiergarten Schönbrunn Zoo Vienna", is one of the weirdest I've ever come across. Who invented it, and why? <KF> 11:42, September 4, 2005 (UTC)
- The Homepage of the zoo says
Tiergarten Schönbrunn Zoo Vienna
- But I think this is to be read as Tiergarten Schönbrunn -- Zoo Vienna or Tiergarten Schönbrunn (Zoo Vienna), or even Tiergarten Schönbrunn (in English "Vienna Zoo", but in our English "Zoo Vienna").
- I suggest to move it to Tiergarten Schönbrunn.

Merging in progress
I've begun work on merging and translating stuff from the German article. --Darkbane 16:18, 11 May 2007 (UTC)
- Merge and translation are now mostly complete. Tasks left:
- possibly merge gallery

Privatization
I don't think "privatization" is the correct term -- according to the German WP the "Schönbrunner Tiergarten-Gesellschaft m.b.H." is solely owned by the Republic of Austria. --Vheissu (talk) 18:06, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
Olga the elephant
would it be an idea to add the story of Olga the Elephant who was the inspiration behind the World War 2 film 'Hannibal Brooks'? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Andywebby (talk • contribs) 01:37, 26 August 2012 (UTC)

Move to "Schönbrunn Zoo"
I will move the page from its current title "Tiergarten Schönbrunn" to "Schönbrunn Zoo". Tiergarten Schönbrunn is generally only used by German speakers, an unwieldy title if you're not one, and as such makes it harder to search for the article.
Other reasons:
- Last debate about the title was 17 years ago, with no objections to "Schönbrunn Zoo"
- Official website of the zoo in English names the zoo as either "Schönbrunn Zoo" or "Vienna Zoo" (there seems to be no real consistency, only consistent thing being not naming the zoo "Tiergarten Schönbrunn")
- According to Google Ngram, the more used title in English is "Schönbrunn Zoo", with even "Vienna Zoo" being more popular than "Tiergarten Schönbrunn"
- According to Google Trends, while the statistical difference is minor and the statistics are heavily region-dependent, in the United States and United Kingdom, the most searched-for term seems to be "Vienna Zoo"
- Generally, most articles on zoos use the "[Insert location here] Zoo" formula
Per rules listed on WP:MOVE and WP:RM I do not consider this move to be controversial, as such, I am moving the article to Schönbrunn Zoo without starting a discussion. If you have objections though, feel free to leave them here.
Thanks. — Soggy Pandas (talk) 12:11, 19 December 2022 (UTC)
