Greek Translation

Scato/a (σκατό/ά) means "shit" (vulgar or colloquial) and NOT "feces" (medical or formal). "Feces" in Greek is called "κόπρανα" (coprana). Well, it's of minimal importance but I'm very obsessed with details... (btw, I am Greek, so I am absolutely sure of the correctness of my translations) Galanom (talk) 16:42, 8 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

University degree

"In the last five years, many US universities have begun offering degree programs in scatology."

Qs:

  1. 1999 - 2003?
  2. How "many"?
  3. Which universities?
  4. Undergraduate or graduate?

Really, like what universities? Zephyrprince 02:37, 1 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Scuzi?

Scatology is not to be confused with eschatology, the study of the end of the world.

Is this necessary? — Ilγαηερ (Tαlκ) 01:50, 15 July 2005 (UTC)Reply

They are pronounced and spelled similarly, but I'm not sure if it's neccessary...Do you think it's a common mistake that might be made?--24.1.160.226 04:39, 14 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

The above poster was myself. I went ahead and revised the note about eschatology. If you look at the sidebar, Spanish calls Scatology "Eschatologie". I think that's good reason to add the note.--Fourthgeek 04:53, 14 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

Interesting commentary .. and useful! Many people may look up a word based on phonetics. Finding an incongruous definition would just leave one confused -- having the reference to a similar sounding (but entymologically different) word is a variant that makes this better than an ordinary Websters' entry.

Portuguese also can use the same word for both (though the fecal sense is more known as coprology), so it's helpful. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 187.107.5.202 (talk) 21:32, 11 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Definition

Can some person with authority and proper sources please put a definition of the word itself at the top of this article? I can't be the only person coming to this page only to find it assumes prior knowledge. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.16.232.206 (talk) 19:40, 9 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
