Can someone please figure out what this is supposed to mean? "Physical descriptions of Sandalphon vary depending on the source. He is uniformly depicted as extremely tall—he exceeds Hadraniel (another angel) in height by a 500-year foot journey."

It means that physical descriptions of Sandalphon vary depending on which source you're consulting—because there are so many different descriptions of him, it's impossible to create a unified picture. One thing all descriptions of him share is that he is very tall: he is taller than Hadraniel by a certain height that measures the distance it would take you 500 years on foot to traverse. I think the wording is clear enough, but if you'd like to propose an alternative, please do. (Also, please sign your posts.) Makaristos 20:20, 8 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

According to Rabbi Aryeh Kaplan ("Inner Space"), "Sandalphon" literally means "shoe-angel" and refers to his interface with earth, as a shoe is the interface between the foot and the earth, and this angel in responsible for collecting prayers.

Sandalphon as an Angel

Sandalphon, is depicted in many sources, as an Angel of Unborn Children, Children, Life, and so on. I was surprised I did not see this on the main page.

Unfortunatley, Makaristos, I do not know anything about his height, but I can imagine he would have to be tall if he were indeed the angel of new life.

Can you cite some sources? Please put all this on the article. It's very interesting stuff. Also, please sign your posts. Makaristos 22:29, 30 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Sandalphon - Longfellow

Can you include a reference to Longfellow's poem about this figure? http://archive.org/stream/thecompletepoems01365gut/old/cphwl10.txt In Birds of Passage - Flight the First — Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.108.78.10 (talk) 16:20, 6 September 2012 (UTC)Reply
