w/r/t music, sampling is shorthand for what is done with a digital sampler, it is specific to digital audio. If done with analog tape, it is not called 'sampling' but rather 'looping' due to the practice of splicing together the piece of tape to form a continuous loop.JFQ

Sample collection

I'm starting to think that content on the sampling of material for analysis is a bit too much for a dab page. Furthermore, there are far more many types of samples not included here, such as blood, urine, air, vapour, soil, tissue, wood, etc. Should a new article be created to hold this content? A link to this page could also be made at sample. For a name, I could suggest Sampling (analysis), but please don't be shy to comment/suggest. +mt 16:11, 5 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

I think "analysis" is too broad a qualifier. Sampling (diagnostic analysis) might work, although it's a bit wordy, and might be too specific. How about simply Test sample? -- Avenue (talk) 09:30, 6 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
Acceptance sampling might cover off the quality control side of it, too. -- Avenue (talk) 12:20, 6 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Specific types of sampling

If I understand the guidelines right (in particular Wikipedia:Disambiguation#Partial title matches), then the entries in the "Specific types of sampling" section don't belong here. Any objections to their removal? -- Avenue (talk) 12:20, 6 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
