Birth date accuracy in question

It seems his birthdate has been changed unsourced back and forth between 1972 and 1971 several times by IP editors, and there is no sourcing backing up which is correct on the article. Waxworker (talk) 08:17, 11 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

BLP problem?

There's been an edit on this page since December of 2021 made by an IP. It just added the sentence "[Ryu] was convicted of stalking his wife (now ex wife) in 2013" in the lead section. It is true that Ryu was convicted of this offense (see this link), but 1. I'm not sure this needs to be in the lead section and 2. The source provided for the claim has nothing to do with it (it's an article about a Japanese album release by Ryu, IIRC). I've been hesitant to delete it without adding my own section about it, though, because I'm scared I'll start an edit war or be accused of removing it because I'm his fan (I'm not) if I just delete it. But the issue regarding him and his wife is complicated, so it'll take time making my own section.

Still, Ryu Si-won is a living person, and criminal records are contentious information. Citing the biographies of living persons policy, is it safe to remove the edit without adding a better section about it? Wuju Daisuki (talk) 13:13, 30 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Well, the lead is supposed to be a summary of the article, but the body makes absolutely no mention of the alleged incident. I guess it is indeed true, although I'm unfamiliar with the Korea Herald, so a section with details (and ideally more refs, esp. if it "is complicated") in the body would seem appropriate. Then the lead mention can be revised/re-added to accurately summarize the content. I can't read Korean, but am I right in guessing the ref [1] belongs to the Feeling and acting claim in the preceding sentence? If so, that could be moved immediately (maybe along with the 10-year-old conviction, until you're done writing). — JohnFromPinckney (talk / edits) 15:39, 31 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
The [1] ref doesn't refer to anything I've added to the article yet. It just refers to a Japanese album release by Ryu hitting number 3 on the Oricon chart. It could be useful for, say, a section about his Japanese career or a reference for his Japanese singles discography section (but the latter has an all-encompassing reference anyway).
