POV?

"it didn't help that Rhapsody hit American theaters during a particularly severe period of anti-Japanese jingoism in the United States"

Ummm, it was released during the nineties right? This sentence seems a bit extreme. --Geedubber 08:52, 27 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Not really. the early Nineties was a bad time to be Japanese in America because you simultaneously had the fiftieth anniversary of Pearl Harbor, the Gulf War, which Japan pointedly refused to participate in, and an economic recession in the US while Japan was still outwardly financially successful. I suppose I'll eventually have to find a citation, but I'm just going on memory (POV! POV! POV!). I was recently watching another Japanese film, Patlabour 2, and was shocked that that film actually assumed the US would attack Japan over its economic success. Recent Edits

It seems the recent edits by 24.207.60.68 seem to be personal opinions and not encyclopedic. I think they should be removed. Everyguy 21:37, 19 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Ug. Let's throw out the article and start over.71.205.209.100 20:26, 9 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

I agree that the article has POV issues, and have stamped it. --Sailor Titan (talk) 17:20, 13 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

The reading of the Japanese title

The correct reading of the Japanese title (八月の狂詩曲) is Hachigatsu no rapusodī, not Hachigatsu no kyōshikyoku.

  • Kazuko Kurosawa. (2004). Papa, Akira Kurosawa (パパ、黒澤明), page 306. Bungei Shunjū.
  • Hiromichi Horikawa. (2003). A Critical Biography of Akira Kurosawa (評伝 黒澤明), page 346. Chikuma Shobō.
  • Tadao Satō. (2002) A Bibliographical introduction of Akira Kurosawa Works (黒澤明作品解題), page 332. Iwanami Shoten.

Kazuko Kurosawa is Akira Kurosawa's daughter and costume designer of his movie. Hiromichi Horikawa is his assistant director. Tadao Sato is a Japanese famous cinema critic. If you can read Japanese language on your PC, search "八月の狂詩曲 ラプソディー" within any search engine. You will find many examples. I wrote about this issue on the talk page WikiProject Films. --Kihachi (talk) 00:36, 11 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
I added a new section based on the discussion on that talk page. Since I am not used to editing Wikipedia and not good at English, your help to revice the article would be greatly appreciated.--Kihachi (talk) 06:14, 11 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
