Script error: No such module "Banner shell". Why do you consider the chestnut oak to be a "subgroup" of the white oak? It is my understanding that they are only related by genus not species. What do you mean by a "subgroup"?

---

"White oaks" here refers to the Leucobalanus section of the oak genus, Quercus. Oaks are broadly divided into Leucobalanus, the white oak group, of which chestnut oaks are a subgroup, and Erythrobalanus, the red oak group, of which live oaks are a subgroup.

By the way, it's appreciated if you register and sign your stuff.

Capitalization of "oak"

Articles referencing the Chestnut Oak are showing up red because the word "oak" has been capitalized in their articles but not here, as you can see by my example. Would it be possible to make a change to a capital or to move the article so it can be properly referenced? The other sections on individual oaks have the word "oak" capitalized, so I assume that's the standard. I'd do it myself but that seems rude (and I'm not really sure how to do it)! —Lilly Williams (talk) 00:17, 18 November 2006

Hardness?

Where does this wood fall on the Janka Hardness Scale? I also suggest differentiating from American Chestnut, too. Thank you, Wordreader (talk) 01:05, 1 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned references in Quercus prinus

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Quercus prinus's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "fna":

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 22:17, 7 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
