Pyro

Is this actually the Latin word for fire? I thought it was Ignis Pyro is some other thing like a prefix or something... I think.--122.60.236.82 (talk) 07:58, 21 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

The English word "pyre" and prefix "pyro-" come from the Greek πυρ (pyr in Roman characters) meaning "fire". See http://www.thefreedictionary.com/pyre and http://translation.babylon.com/english/to-greek/fire. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.62.88.18 (talk) 04:05, 8 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
