review California, USA and Columbia, USA / compare against restrictions on the first amendment of/to the US constitution
some restrictions placed on protests in the US include: that they not be substantially disruptive I.e. calling for immediate, lawless action, blocking entryways, preventing activities from continuing, etc. The Umbreon 1.0 (talk) 20:07, 20 October 2024 (UTC)
Alleged Palestine genocide vs Palestine genocide
There is a debate about whether there is a genocide in Gaza. This debate is discussed in the Wikipedia entry Gaza genocide. The lead for that article states "Israel has been accused of carrying out a genocide against the Palestinian people by a number of experts, governments, United Nations agencies, and non-governmental organisations during its invasion and bombing of the Gaza Strip in the ongoing Israel–Hamas war." The article on police brutality is not the place to debate this. I think the policy WP:SUSPECT applies here-- that is, a suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law-- and it seems to me that no court has declared this a genocide. The given reference cites Amnesty International, which is not a court of law. I think the wording "alleged genocide" is appropriate, and a Wikilink could be created to the Gaza genocide article. Bias in contemporary examples
The discussion on police brutality examples focuses too heavily on incidents with pro-Palestinian protestors. BLITZKRIEGCAT (talk) 00:24, 19 January 2025 (UTC)
- Perhaps the whole section should be removed. "Contemporary examples" is a section that by definition will be outdated in a couple of years. And if we turn it into a general "Examples" section, there's nothing that makes the pro-Palestine and Brazilian examples any noteworthy over so many other cases in history, even in their respective countries, other than Wikipedia:Recentism. Any really noteworthy case could be mentioned at the "history" section. Cambalachero (talk) 13:56, 20 January 2025 (UTC)
