Template:Edit semi-protected[Pilates] In the opening paragraph, please replace "contrology" with "controlology."

File:Red information icon with gradient background.svg Not done: Google ngrams lists both spellings as approximately equal, but Joseph Pilates himself seems to have spelled it the shorter way. PianoDan (talk) 18:54, 19 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Clarity regarding efficacy

The introductory section says that Pilates "has not been shown to be an effective treatment for any medical condition".

However the section on Effectiveness says: "From the limited data available, it would seem from the statistically and clinically significant findings that Pilates has demonstrated efficacy as a tool for the rehabilitation of a wide range of conditions," citing as a source the paper "Is pilates an effective rehabilitation tool? A systematic review" by Byrnes, Wu and Whillier, from the Journal of Bodywork and Movement Therapies.

Is this a contradiction? Or is there a distinction between different types of "condition"? I.e. are some of the conditions for which Pilates is an effective rehabilitation not "medical conditions"? Or is the Byrnes/Wu/Whillier paper working with a different definition of "effectiveness", e.g. that pilates is better than no exercise (but perhaps no better than other kinds of exercise)?

I think it would help to clarify these points, as right now it seems like a confusing summary of the effectiveness of Pilates. Thank you! 152.115.215.118 (talk) 15:53, 4 March 2025 (UTC)Reply

The model in the image is not demonstrating 'all fours' - all fours has all four limbs on the floor. She's performing a variation, sometimes called 'bird dog'. 203.158.41.232 (talk) 00:49, 4 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
