Alto?
Isn't she an alto, rather than a mezzo-soprano? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Artvandelay (talk • contribs) 20:37, 4 August 2005 (UTC)
- Answer-She is an alto. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.155.203.198 (talk • contribs) 20:16, 1 June 2006 (UTC)
Gay Icon?
Would Patti be considered a gay icon? Her singing and acting are quite similar to Liza Minelli's. Also, in one episode of Will & Grace, Jack obsesses over her. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.43.45.250 (talk • contribs) 23:57, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
- I would argue that she is, but then again where is the line between Broadway legend and icon? Daydream believer2 08:18, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
Fast forward to 2013... Anything with a pulse is now considered a 'Gay Icon®'! 70.238.223.213 (talk) 15:47, 30 June 2013 (UTC)

Famous Parent?
Is it true her father was Jubilation T. Corn Pone? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.228.240.60 (talk • contribs) 21:27, 13 May 2006 (UTC)
- Who? No, he is not. Where did you hear that? Michael 04:02, 27 June 2006 (UTC)
- The parent line has been hijacked "LuPone was born in Northport, New York, the daughter of a troll and Bigfoot" —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.58.86.223 (talk) 05:18, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
Evita
How is it that her performance only gets one sentence at the end of the first paragraph? The role for which she is best known should be emphasized. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.21.184.95 (talk • contribs) 04:31, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
Age Concern
Not sure where to mention this, but there seems to be a problem with her age. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dixon pete (talk • contribs) 04:45, 1 May 2009 (UTC)

advice on use of cell phones during performances
I have seen a news item, and now just saw "Stance on distractions from audience members" section here. I have heard announcements about silencing of cell phones, but it is often overlooked that the light from displays can be seen by others nearby. I myself have had cases of noticing such a light in peripheral vision as I looked toward the stage. Hooray! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.63.16.47 (talk) 21:26, 9 July 2015 (UTC)

How many Olivier Awards has she won?
There are some discrepancies in the lead and in the third paragraph regarding the number of Oliviers she has won. I have added emphasis to the following quotes.
The last sentence of the lead:
First sentence of the third paragraph of the intro:
I'm not sure if the discrepancy stems from the fact that she won one award for two performances in 1985. These statement are not referenced here. (The first sentence in the lead does have two references but these attest to her Tony Awards and American Theater Hall of Fame induction.) I did a text search for Olivier and the 1985 and 2019 awards are described later in the article, with references, but I'm not clear on how to accurately describe the number of Oliviers she has won. I'm not well versed in theater or Patti LuPone's career and I don't know if there is a standard convention for describing the situation where someone wins one (?) Olivier for two performances in a single year or if how we describe this is a matter of editorial discretion. Hopefully someone knowledgeable can clean this up or guide the discussion towards finding appropriate references and/or establishing editorial consensus. MYCETEAE - talk 05:58, 10 October 2024 (UTC)
- I've added two clarification needed tags pointing to this discussion. I believe this was done appropriately and am open to feedback. MYCETEAE - talk 19:16, 10 October 2024 (UTC)
- She has won two Olivier Awards. The awards are given on the basis of achievement in British Theatre in the qualifying period. While I cannot find specific a specific reference to clarify this, List of awards and nominations received by Patti Lupone refers to her as a two time winner. This rule is also followed in the Wikipedia articles of Imelda Staunton, Antony Sher, and List of awards and nominations received by Sam Mendes; all winners of the award for two different plays (Staunton and Sher for performing; Mendes for Directing). Removing "Views on theater conduct" section, and merging incidents into her career section chronologically
Patti LuPone has always fascinated me. Obviously, her three incidents with audience members are notable, but I don't think the overall article benefits from these having their own section. Perhaps they can be integrated into the "Theater" section of her career portion, in the paragraphs that mention the roles/performances during which the incidents occurred. For example, Gypsy for the 2009 incident; Shows for Days for the 2015 incident, etc. Changedforbetter (talk) 19:15, 6 November 2024 (UTC)
