Fair use rationale for Image:WT17ksmf.jpg

File:Nuvola apps important.svg

Image:WT17ksmf.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Lack of Citations

This article is in serious need of additional citations. The facts presented are appropriately neutral and positive additions to the article, but they need to have better citations. I've added a few citation needed tags in a few areas. Geo.grail (talk) 23:32, 5 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Who first published the name Paranthropus aethiopicus?

Of course Arambourg and Coppens are the formal authors of the species name but someone must have been the first to actually use the combinatio nova Paranthropus aethiopicus. Who was it?--MWAK (talk) 14:21, 25 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi, might this have been placed here on the GA page rather than the archived article talk page by mistake? FunkMonk (talk) 14:28, 25 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
Indeed :o). Though such information perhaps should not be absent in a Good Article.--MWAK (talk) 08:37, 26 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
Of course, but this section is likely to be "obscured" by being inside another talk page (especially since the review is finished). We could just move it out into the regular talk page? FunkMonk (talk) 09:09, 26 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
Of course.--MWAK (talk) 13:13, 27 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
Done, and pinging Template:U. FunkMonk (talk) 14:15, 27 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
Closest thing I could find is Evolutionary History of the "Robust" Australopithecines Grine 1988 saying "the generic names of the species afarensis, aethiopicus, robustus, and boisei have been omitted because of uncertainty as to whether it is Australopithecus or Paranthropus" hidden in the preface (which I can't access), but the book uses Australopithecus over Paranthropus. No one talks about the first use of the combination "Paranthropus aethiopicus", just that it's not universally used and the matter is debated, so even I found an earlier one, I can't confidently say it's the first   User:Dunkleosteus77 |push to talk  18:36, 27 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
