Script error: No such module "protected edit request". The following statement should be removed: "It is a type of batter bread". This is incorrect. American pancakes specifically may be defined as 'batter bread', in which case that should be specified, but that is an inaccurate description of pancakes as a whole (the topic of the page). Furthermore, I believe 'batter bread' is a somewhat nonsensical description, even for american pancakes.
Wikipedia and its contributors should endeavour to distance themselves from the heavily Americanised perspective that is pervasive through so many articles; this is a place for objective information, as far removed from perspective-bias as possible. 2A02:C7F:662E:5000:8D2:23BF:C2C7:205C (talk) 13:56, 1 December 2023 (UTC)
- File:Pictogram voting question.svg Question: I may just be missing something important (in which case please do correct me), but from what I can see from this article, all pancakes are made using batter, no? Additionally, why would batter bread be nonsensical – they are bread made of batter? Tollens (talk) 18:47, 4 December 2023 (UTC)

Script error: No such module "protected edit request". Quote from the section on regional varieties, Germany:
Usage of a leavening agent or yeast is uncommon.
This is incorrect as baking powder is used widely as a leavening agent for pancakes (Eierkuchen or Pfannkuchen) in Germany. Yeast is often used in the regional variety eaten in the East of Central Germany which is called „Plinse“, „Blinse“ or „Plinz“ and apparently missing from the English Wikipedia altogether.
This information can also be found on the German Wikipedia: https://de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plinse
Therefore, the sentence should be changed to:
The use of leavening agents such as baking powder or soda is not uncommon. Yeast is also used, for example in a variety in the East of Central Germany which is known as „Plinse“, „Blinse“, or „Plinz“. 2A02:3036:260:2916:CCDC:C653:7CDD:3889 (talk) 20:23, 8 July 2024 (UTC)

Wikipedia is not a reliable source, however you linked to de:plinse, while the English pancake article refers to de:pfannkuchen – macaddct1984 (talk | contribs) 00:05, 16 July 2024 (UTC)
edit request, bolding of alt-titles
Script error: No such module "protected edit request". We have long-term semi-protection on our article about the hotly contested topic of... scones? That's hilarious. Anyhoo, in the UK section, please change Template:Tq and Template:Tq from italics to the same text in bold, as they're clearly intended as term-defining alt-titles. (One already redirects here, the other clearly should.) 109.255.211.6 (talk) 14:40, 10 November 2024 (UTC)

- ... change ''drop scones'' to '''drop scones''' and ''dropped scones'' to '''dropped scones'''. This is a stylistic change per MOS:BOLDREDIRECT. 109.255.211.6 (talk) 20:30, 10 November 2024 (UTC)
- File:X mark.svg Not done: I don't think this is the best choice. From elsewhere in the same MOS page: "This is not a requirement: for instance, it will not be desirable in a case where a large number of terms redirect to a single article, e.g. a plant species with dozens of vernacular names." This would seem to apply here. PianoDan (talk) 18:19, 13 November 2024 (UTC)

Alt-titles from redirects
@PianoDan is correct to say above this is a wider topic than just 'dropped scone' case and there's a large number of other such redirects. I'd disagree this makes in undesirable to do so; the situation here seems to me to be more like a number of nanostubs that have been effectively merged. We'd not get the sort of 'SEAOFBOLD' we might in the case he mentions. But we should deal with each symmetrically -- or, not -- so evidently some discussion on that is required first. 109.255.211.6 (talk) 20:56, 13 November 2024 (UTC)

Script error: No such module "protected edit request". Factual changes regarding the UK entry. Scotch pancakes are mainly called that in parts of the UK outside Scotland! The term drop scone for a small pancake with raising agent is common throughout the UK and isn't Scotland specific 92.40.218.224 (talk) 14:22, 20 February 2025 (UTC)
