Are there just two

A recent shuttle processing report seems to imply there are just two OBSS kits. Presumably there is one on Atlantis at the pad, and the report mentions another just moved from Discovery to Endeavor. How many were built? Did one get off-loaded at ISS? (sdsds - talk) 00:33, 17 November 2007 (UTC)

The OBSS that will stay at ISS is the one just before the Kibo PM launch (so STS-123 before STS-124). So either one is being retrofitted, kept back as a spare or there is indeed only 2 of them. There have been long discussions about this already on the NSF forums. We don't know how many Canadarms are left in use, nor how many OBSS. One of the reason is that using spare components as well as cannibalizing arms has occurred. Not even one of the JSC guys who visits the NSF forums could figure it out anymore. My best guess atm on OBSS is that 3 were constructed, one of which is just "spare components" and not actually in use, but that is just a guess. --TheDJ (talk • contribs) 01:41, 17 November 2007 (UTC)
