Redoing the Article
I've decided to get this article to GA status like I did with horseshoe crabs. It definitely has a lot of substance to work with, but I think the language is far too technical and the citations way too sparse. I feel bad for the people who translated everything from German only for the article to be redone, but that was like two decades ago. - Hi RenaMoonn, for what it's worth I was the main translator and I don't object to the re-do. Having got the technical substance across - in near enough a direct translation - I had intended to come back to it and give the language some serious editing for readability (and probably some structural changes too) but life intervened and I ended up taking a 17 year wiki break. Obviously standards on sourcing / online citations have moved on a lot in the intervening period too so the value of these direct translations is perhaps less than it was back then. Kind of amazed it hasn't had a really major rewrite in all that time! So please don't feel bad about it and if I can help at all with the fresh article, please yell. - I mean, I'd definitely appreciate some help. Right now, I'm improving fossil onychophoran articles so I can get a good understanding of how velvet worms evolved, and then use that to redo the Evolution section. So far I've completed two of these (Antennacanthopodia and Cretoperipatus), am almost done with another (Antennipatus), and have at least one more to go (definitely Helenodora, but maybe Succinipatopsis)
- I've gotten a few ideas for the page from writing these smaller articles, but it's kinda hard to explain. Some stuff you could help with is synthesizing the study "Soft-Bodied Fossils Are Not Simply Rotten Carcasses - Toward a Holistic Understanding of Exceptional Fossil Preservation" with the Insights on Decay section or getting some info for the Relationship with Humans section.
- I know velvet worms are sometimes as pets, I just don't have any sources for that. Plus, I'd rather tell you expand a new section than make up for one of my mistakes (the study I mentioned is a critique of the decay section info, and I didn't realize it existed until later).
- Also, just a side note, but getting smaller articles to GA-status is much easier than larger ones. I feel like this is kinda obvious, but still. RenaMoonn (talk) 07:49, 28 March 2025 (UTC)
International Phoenetic Alphabet
