Cri-cri IS NOT the snip of a pair of scissors in Italian
As in title: cri-cri IS NOT the snip of a pair of scissors in Italian. It's: "zac-zac".
"Cri-cri" is the sound of the crickets. 79.34.247.102 (talk) 21:01, 4 August 2022 (UTC)
American English spelling or just a random typo?
The article says "onomatopeia" is an American English spelling, but as an American, I've never seen it used. The following online dictionaries don't recognize the spelling at all: https://www.dictionary.com/, https://www.merriam-webster.com/, https://dictionary.cambridge.org/, and https://www.britannica.com/dictionary. Furthermore, https://www.thefreedictionary.com/ redirects to "onomatopoeia", but does not actually mention the "onomatopeia" spelling anywhere on the page, so I don't think it counts. Only https://www.yourdictionary.com/ and https://en.wiktionary.org/ include the spelling. That's 5 out of 7 dictionaries not recognizing it. --Crocogator987 (talk) 05:04, 18 August 2022 (UTC)
