Nationality

Is Zherdev Ukrainian or Russian? I know that with the fall of the Soviet Union, nationality is a little confusing, but I recall hearing that Zherdev is Russian.

If he was born in Ukraine I'm inclined to think that he's Ukrainian. Although he could be ethnicly Russian, I bet he actually holds a Ukrainian passport. Zytsef 05:47, 2 December 2007 (UTC) Nevermind. I'll add a source to the effect that he is, apparently, a Russian citizen.Zytsef 06:12, 2 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
Perhaps he is Ukraine born, but now has his home in Russia. Thus he's a Ukrainian-Russian, just like Brett Hull is a Canadian-American. GoodDay (talk) 13:56, 4 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
Yep, Russian citizen now. His family is still in Ukraine, which he goes back to visit, and as the interview linked in the article points out he self-identifies as a Ukrainian still rather than Russian--Lvivske (talk) 16:39, 4 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Just because he was born and raised in Ukraine and still has a family there, does not mean he is an Ukrainian. Do not forget the politics of the old Soviet Union where they wanted to fill all their republics with ethnic Russians. In Estonia, 50% of the total populations is actually ethnic Russians, due to the russification. Norum (talk) 00:42, 12 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Speculation--Львівське (talk) 08:15, 12 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Yes, but still highly probable. Norum (talk) 20:09, 27 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

He self identifies as Ukrainian, so there's nothing really to speculate on. Besides, there's a town outside of Kiev called Zhereva. Are we going to assume that every 'ev' ending name is ethnic Russian? There's enough on the Ukrainian national team that fall into that category. This is silly.--Львівське (talk) 21:09, 27 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Listen Lviv guy, all I said was that there is a high probability of it. Not my damn problem if you don't like my statement. Norum (talk) 23:25, 28 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Don't get angry at me if you don't know what you're talking about.--Львівське (talk) 08:31, 29 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

No need to start arguing over a simple question, and if you desperately need to try keeping it civil. —Krm500 (Communicate!) 09:23, 29 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Oh I know what I am talking about, it is you who starts making fuss out of nothing. Norum (talk) 09:37, 6 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Something Doesn't Make Sense. What KHL team Does He Actually Play For?

In this article it states that he plays for Atlant Moscow Oblast But I know he played for the flyers last year But this video clearly shows him skating away playing For Ak Bars http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-puck-daddy/watch-khl-goalie-matt-dalton-ejected-slashing-opponent-181044102--nhl.html?bcmt_s=m#ugccmt-container

This Article Makes No Mention of Ak Bars So Something Doesn't Make Sense At first I thought it might be his brother or relative But it's his #93 Also Ak Bars Makes No Mention Of Him

Can Anyone Explain Any of this? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.253.49.224 (talk) 22:01, 24 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Looks like the page is out of date. Looking at his HockeyDB page it shows him playing for Ak Bars after 39 games with Atlant in 2012-13. Something needs to be found about how he ended up there trade or other wise. I changed the lead to reflect. --Mo Rock...Monstrous (leech44) 04:03, 25 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
