Alter Bridge

I think Myles should be referred to as the lead vocalists and guitarist of Alter Bridge. It isnt accurate to call him the rhythm guitarist anymore. While Mark is the lead guitarist for sure Myles' guitar duties are more then just a rhythm guitarists. When he first started with them he was but ever since Blackbird hes been really in between rhythm and lead guitar and I think he should be put as simply guitarist until explained later in the page. Unless someone gives me a reason otherwise I am going to remove "rhythm". Putting just guitarist does not imply anything other then he plays guitar but putting rhythm guitar implies he plays in the traditional rhythm guitar way which his playing for Alter Bridge really lies in between lead and rhythm guitar.<— Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.130.166.48 (talk) 06:28, 3 January 2012 (UTC)

Voice

I'm afraid that Myles Kennedy does not have a 5.5 octave range. Freddie Mercury and Jeff Buckley had only 3.5.

-> A stupid person got on and wanted to be funny by editing this. Kennedy had a 3 octave range. Also Jeff Buckley had a 4 octave range, not 3.5 in his normal voice...he has covered a range of 4.5 though, although it's not his normal.

The lady singer in the Rotary Connection had a 5 octave range. Sounds like a theremin when it's way up there!

Uh, is Kennedy's range a 3 or 4 octave range? Also, there are very little sources and under trivia someone said he is the greatest vocalist in the world(not that I disagree) but this is a freakin' encyclopedia so I'm goin to delete that.Cubs07ftw 23:00, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

Wow, this page reads like a fanboy account in Circus Magazine. First-name usage where Kennedy is referred to as "Myles", random and extraneous material- wow. It reads like other crap someone tried to write about Layne Staley or Chris Cornel. Range

Look, I'm not just some guy who likes to hate on a band for no reason - in fact, I love Alter Bridge, and I think they are the greatest modern rock band. However, I just had to remove that ridiculous claim about his vocal range.

Kennedy, while a great singer, does not possess a four octave range. At best he has 2.5 (3 is really pushing it). I noticed someone tried to claim that he can hold a note for a certain amount of time. Two points to make here - A) He doesn't actually hold the notes for as long as is claimed, B)holding a note for a prolonged period of time is not the equivalent of vocal range - it is to do with vocal power and lung capacity.

Ever since some blind fanboy added this to the article, it has been spread around - mostly thanks to this article by The Guardian that cites Wikipedia as a source, when it was just an unverified totally made up fanboy claim! And now everybody who pretends to know a thing or two about singing claims that Kennedy has a 4 octave range, but the reality is this is simply not the case.

Btw, I hope he doesn't tour with Zep, as that could be the end of Alter Bridge and we'll never see the new album. Even worse - the horrible shit stain of the music industry, Creed, may reform. 121.223.2.134 (talk) 08:38, 7 November 2008 (UTC)

Assessment

The article is much too detailed to be a stub. I suspect it was first assessed at Stub when it was one, but it's not any longer. The sourcing isn't great, but it's enough to rightly list it at C as I see it, though I wouldn't object to a re-assessment at Start. I was recently imposed in the midst of what appeared to be an edit war to change referenced content to this article. I was monitoring recent changes when I happened upon this edit. I have requested semi protection and hope this allows watchers of this page to verify that it is free of vandalism. No 4 octave range

http://therangeplace.forummotions.com/t322-myles-kennedy These guys now their bussines and dedicate themselves to see how much range a singer has. They pretty much check the whole discography of a singer plus live performances to see what notes do they hit. As you can see, the range he demonstrated publicly in his career goes from E2 to B♭5, that means, 3 octaves and six semitones, not 4 octaves. To have a four octave range he would need to have B♭1-B♭5 or E2-E6 which he hasn't, or any other notes that actually span 4 octaves between each other. So, please, change that as soon as possible, I don't know since when, but lately there's a lot of articles containing wrong information of how many octaves of range a singer has, and it looks like that information was even by people who can't even count musical intervals (octaves, semitones, tones) properly. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 186.18.56.97 (talk) 23:03, 20 December 2012 (UTC)

The old image feels like a promotional headshot and does not show the subject "in action". I prefer the new image even though it's a longer shot and has stage smoke slightly blurring the subject. The subject isn't an actor and so one that shows the subject performing is a better choice. See the image used on Slash (musician), Bono (just picking musicians at random from the list of lead vocalists now) Eddie Van Halen, Tori Amos, John Cooper (musician), Ace Frehley, Peter Hooton, Tom Petty, Captain Beefheart, Geddy Lee, Shaun Morgan and Axl Rose. Compare with Miles Davis, David Byrne, Judith Durham, Peter Gabriel, Daryl Hall and Joan Jett. With the first set you clearly understand that the subject is a musician and which instruments the subject is known for. The latter, it's unclear.
