I'm new to editing Wikipedia pages so this is more of a question, though probably not placed in the right section. I was reading this page and found the section which mentioned the band Lord Jeff and how it the relation to Lord Jeffrey Amherst. It states that Jeffrey Amherst named the town of Amherst,"who also named Amherst." Although, this is untrue as Jeffrey Amherst never stepped foot in the town. The reason the town is named after him is because he was close to governor or state rep. of the time. I'm sorry if this is not completely clear as I did the research for a project years ago and do not have the citation at hand. Though, If I may be allowed a moment to find them I can provide the documentation. I know this may seem trivial to some, but being a resident of Amherst, MA, we have developed a notable legacy of fighting for the most inane trivialities.Illmatic5746 (talk) 20:27, 16 March 2011 (UTC)
Very light
As Wiki itself noted, this piece is very light on information. Boston has a rich musical history of the Pops, the Symphony, Berklee School of Music, various opera companies, etc. The city has been very influential in popular music, quite often being influenced by British styles and introducing them to the rest of the country. The Boston Sound of the 1960s was influenced by the Beatles and the other British Invasion bands, while Boston's New Wave movement of the late 1970s took its energy from British punk and art rock influences. Along the way, many bands were signed by national record companies. A few like Aerosmith, The Cars, and Boston achieved international fame. The piece here seems overwhelmed by the article on hardcore, which was only a small part of the Boston scene that, for the most part, could be termed more New Wave, Garage Rock and Art Rock than punk. I hope some of Boston's musical experts can flesh out some of these areas. Danpetitpas (talk) 18:40, 19 February 2013 (UTC)
