Pronunciation

Template:Ping Where does the IPA-based transcription come from? Why are the final vowels missing, and where does the schwa come from, oh, and the [w]? Lingala says nothing about such a phenomenon (vowel reduction or apocope not reflected in the orthography). Its orthography seems to be shallow, i. e., pretty straightforwardly related to the pronunciation. --Florian Blaschke (talk) 22:25, 31 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

This IPA pronunciation came from an earlier revision of the article, I rolled back the change because the pronunciation seemed close enough and I thought it was important to the article, I will however admit that the IPA isn't my specialty, I would really like to find a better source on it. Drawing?

What's the provenance of the drawing? Pascalulu88 (talk) 19:13, 2 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

I think it's from Willy Ley's The Lungfish, The Dodo and The Unicorn, but I don't have access to a copy at the moment - perhaps someone can confirm? 2403:4800:350A:0:E437:9975:F007:71CE (talk) 06:36, 27 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Complaint against article management

“One who stops the flow of rivers.” was the only thing of any memorable value in this article and Editors have removed it. I want to register my displeasure with this decision because the original description was evocative. The fuel for imagination is worth much more than a ridiculous ghostbusting mission. ~~ nos 93.106.161.104 (talk) 11:14, 14 February 2025 (UTC)Reply

Nat Geo article

Does anyone have a National Geographic subscription to read this[1] article? Is there anything noteworthy here about recent alleged sightings in light of deforestation in the region? TNstingray (talk) 15:39, 29 March 2025 (UTC)Reply
