Talk:Mohair
Script error: No such module "Banner shell". Can anyone confirm the existence of this "Moe Goat"? All the sources I can find claim it's the Angora.
Is mohair really a popular material to make teddy bears? None of mine are made out of mohair, and I can't see mohair as the best material for a teddy bear. Loggie 22:34, 16 December 2005 (UTC)

Can anyone tell me how to stop my Mohair jumber from molting. It makes my shirts look like teddy bears everytime I wear it.
shearing injuries to sheep
http://www.nzqa.govt.nz/nqfdocs/units/doc/20109.doc - this page from NZ government allows for skin cuts while shearing sheep. Other references support this, so I removed comparison to sheep not being harmed. Bob98133 17:37, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
Mohair in Teddy Bears
The highest quality ones, such as Steiff, are mohair. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Floridaflightmedic (talk • contribs) 20:22, August 25, 2007 (UTC)
What's in a name?
Why is it called "mohair"? Readers of this article want to know. Chrisrus (talk) 00:32, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
- Try reading the first paragraph in the article. Bob98133 (talk) 15:09, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
One of the oldest fibers?
This line from the article: "It is one of the oldest textile fibers in use." Seems unsupportable to me. If there's a citation, it should be in there, but I don't see how anyone could work out relative dates for the beginnings of fiber production from things like flax, wool, mohair, and all the other early domesticates--not to mention all the fibers derived from non-domesticated sources (like tree bark). Perhaps it is one of the oldest in widespread industrial use? TCSaint (talk) 16:12, 7 June 2012 (UTC)
- Someone at the office says it may be one of the oldest animal fibers. That seems more likely.TCSaint (talk) 22:31, 8 June 2012 (UTC)
Why does "Tonik" redirect here?
On the article List of soft drinks by country the entry Tonik redirects here for unknown reason. Karmazyn16 (talk) 06:41, 15 April 2021 (UTC)
- Looks like a redirect mistake, Tonik was a blend of mohair and wool suiting fabric and there appears to be a drink of the same name. I have changed the wikilink in the list of drinks article so it doesn't redirect here. Greyjoy talk 06:46, 15 April 2021 (UTC)

Out of date subsidy talk
(Bumped to the bottom to encourage discussion)
The subsidy discussion says "as of 2002". It's now 2010. Does anybody know the current status of mohair subsidy? I know that this is more difficult given the fact that the US doesn't actually have a budget but there should be some way of figuring it out. TMLutas (talk) 21:30, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
- I just noticed this page. Like many people, I heard about the end of mohair subsidies in 1995 and thought that was the end of it. The press, which made a lot of noise about the end of the subsidies, was largely silent when the subsidies were reinstated a few years later due to lobbying by subsidy recipients.
- What this page doesn't make clear is whether the subsidies are still in effect in 2024. The citation is nearly a decade old.
